I love this one

For most of you that follow this on Facebook you probably already know, but my cousin came back to the US with ALL 5 of their kids! Plus 56 others that they will be bringing to Utah to families who have already adopted them. They are in Miami for a few days getting all their paperwork in order and then home it will be! I am so happy for them. They are the most amazing people and I am lucky to have them as my family. I put a link on my sidebar of them at the airport waiting to get on the plane. One of them is on KSL, that is of my cousin carrying his youngest baby. It shows him twice, he is wearing a green shirt and the baby is in just a white onesie. Then there is Lindsay, she is with all of her kids and kissing her oldest on the cheek. It's pretty amazing that they captured such a beautiful moment with a tear running down Madalyn's face. There are several pictures of the both of them, both touching and heartbreaking. That link is from Deseret News.

OH BABY!!!

So Bella got her first tooth this week! I was super excited about it, and I thought that it would give her a little bit of relief to her sore gums....... but, she is just as grouchy as ever. I think the 2nd one is getting ready to make it's appearance and I'm HOPING that is why she has been so clingy and won't let me put her down, ever! Also, she has just decided that she doesn't want her formula anymore either. She will drink a couple ounces during the day and take a full 8 ounces before bed. She would rather have her baby food, or whatever we are eating. I gave her some of those lil' crunchies and she loves them! Her Dr. told me to start her on table food and get creative with the formula. I already mix it into her oatmeal but I guess I am going to have to come up with more ways of giving it to her. I tried giving it to her in a sippy cup but she will only drink water or juice from it. Plus, the stupid cup I got pulls off like the nipple of a bottle and she emptied out her mango pineapple carrot juice all over my carpet..... so I have a beautiful round orange stain on my carpet that I can't get up. So now I am on the hunt for a carpet cleaner.

A LONG & SCARY WEEK...

This past week has been pretty intense. As most of you know our family was deeply affected by the 7.0 earthquake in Haiti on January 12, 2010. My cousin and his wife have adopted 6 children from there that they have been fighting to bring home to the US for a few years now. One of their babies that they were trying to adopt got very sick and passed away due to the lack of good medical care. Since then they have tried so hard to get their other kids home where they could be in a safe and loving environment. The oldest girl (Madalyn) that they were trying to adopt was denied the ability of adoption due to her age. She was considered "too old to adopt" and was kicked out of the orphanage when she turned 16. The Bishop of the LDS church took her in to live with him and his family.

Devastation hit home for my cousin when the earthquake hit. After a few days of not knowing if their kids were ok, they finally got word that they were safe. But unfortunately the Bishop who took in their daughter lost his mother, brother in-law, and little sister who was the same age as Madalyn. The 2 girls were in school together.

But from this horrible tragedy something amazing happened. Trevor and Lindsay were still months and possibly even a year or more away from actually being able to bring their kids home. And because of this, they are on their way to pick them up and bring them home where they belong.

Donovan's birthday

Donovan just turned 4 last week. His birthday is 4 days after Christmas....... and because our families are so big he gets to have 2 parties! He was so excited about his Batman Cave, Starwars Heroes, Pirate Ship, and Island. He got a lot of fun toys from his cousins, aunts and uncles, and grandma and grandpas. He wanted a to have a Transformers birthday with an Optimus Prime cake. We had A LOT of cake leftover between the two parties.

I can honestly say that I love the holidays and celebrating his birthday, but I am looking forward to getting my house and life back in order.

Christmas 2009

I think this Christmas has been the best one so far. Donovan finally understood the whole Santa thing. Although he didn't quite get that if he was naughty Santa wasn't going to bring him any toys..... he was put on the naughty list! Lucky for him he tried really hard to be good and even sent a letter to Santa asking if he would put him back on the nice list.

Christmas morning came and I was the first one up. I thought I was going to have to wake up Donovan to tell him that Santa came, but he woke up a few minutes after me. We all went downstairs to see what Santa left, and his face just LIT up! Just to see the excitement that he felt, made me feel that same magical feeling that I got when I was little. He and Bella... yes even Bella, tore into their presents loving every minute of it. Definitely the BEST Christmas ever!
